Democratic Party of Evanston hosts Midwest Summit
Regional grassroots groups convene to set priorities for 2018 election

EVANSTON, Ill. – Evanston is leading an effort to renew America’s promise to future generations.

The Democratic Party of Evanston has joined forces with a new coalition of local organizations from key regional states, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin called the Midwest Alliance of Progressives or MAP. This strategic alliance is comprised of local democratic parties who are collaborating and building a network of trust and best practices. The parties are working together in 2018 to build momentum for 2020.

“This is our way of working for inclusive elections, equitable health care, a clean environment and so many other priorities that will sustain the promise of a better future for the next generation,” said Evanston Township Democratic Committeeman Eamon Kelly

Thirty leaders representing local groups from Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin convened May 5 to prioritize electoral races from around the Midwest and agreed to help each other elect qualified Democrats in Evanston as well as:

  • Illinois’ 6th congressional district
  • Michigan’s 6th congressional district
  • Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district
  • Wisconsin’s 6th congressional district

By coordinating with other local organizations, the Democratic Party of Evanston is building stronger leadership in Evanston. If you’re interested in contributing or helping go to to learn more.
